JICA Knowledge Co-Creation Program(Group and Region Focus) on "Maritime Law Enforcement" (Result Overview) - Strengthening the Maritime Capabilities of Sea Lane Coastal Nations -
Under the framework of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), "Maritime Law Enforcement Course", a JICA Knowledge Co-Creation Program, was conducted in collaboration with JICA Yokohama, targeting foreign coast guard agencies, aimed to strengthen the participating countries' capacity to combat maritime crime. To acquire essential knowledge and skills necessary for Mobile Cooperation Team effective maritime law enforcement, the participants took the specialized lectures and practical training sessions as well as site visits to Japan Coast Guard-related facilities and patrol vessels. After returning to their respective countries, the participants are expected to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the training to their organization, to contribute to their policy development, capacity building, and operational improvement in their agencies. Japan Coast Guard will continue to support those overseas agencies for capacity building of maritime law enforcement, enhancing cooperation and contributing to the maintenance of a rule-based international order, the peace and safety of the seas.
