Through a framework formulated by JICA, the Japan Coast Guard dispatched the Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT) to the Philippines. The MCT conducted training and exercises, to the PCG personnel, aimed at developing future instructors of criminal investigation and forensics, as part of support for enhancing maritime law enforcement capabilities capabilities.
During this training, participants underwent training in photography and fingerprint collection skills necessary for criminal investigations and participated in a practical on-site investigation simulating an injury incident on a ship as part of a comprehensive exercise.
The Japan Coast Guard will continue to strengthen cooperation and collaboration with the coast guard agencies of other countries to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP), while supporting capacity-building efforts for countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
