Capacity Building Support for the Third Country Training Programme Conducted in Malaysia (Overview)
The MCT has been providing capacity-building support in arresting techniques to the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA). On this occasion, through a framework provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), MCT was dispatched to Malaysia to provide capacity-building support to MMEA instructors.
This dispatch was conducted in conjunction with a training course aimed at strengthening law enforcement capabilities under the Third Country Training Programme (TCTP), jointly conducted by the Malaysian Government and JICA, which invites personnel from maritime law enforcement agencies of relevant countries.
In the law enforcement capability training under the TCTP, MMEA instructors were responsible for providing training in arresting techniques to personnel from maritime law enforcement agencies of relevant countries. MCT participated in the training as a capacity building support for the MMEA instructors, conducting proficiency assessments and supplementary training in arresting techniques, as well as providing guidance and advice on effective instructional methods.
The JCG will continue to strengthen cooperation and collaboration with the coast guard agencies of other countries to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP), while supporting capacity building for countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
