Kanmon-Kaikyo Traffic Advisory Service(VTS)Center

The implementation of vessel traffic service is based on the Maritime Traffic Safety Law or, the Port Regulation Law. The necessary data to be provided to users in the VTS area are gathered by two or three shore-based high performance radars, analyzed by computers and processed as the effective information. The information is provided to vessels, marine agents or fishing industry members via VHF, MF, telephone information services, facsimile services or daylight information display boards with the necessary traffic information which is listed below ;

  • Local marine weather and condition
  • Weather warning
  • Sea disaster
  • Dredging and construction works
  • Aids to navigation failure
  • Vessel's movement
  • Navigation plan of huge vessels
  • Status of fishing works
  • Other effective information

Currently, Japanese Traffice Advisory Service (VTS) Centers are operated in six areas of Tokyo-wan, Nagoya-ko, Osaka-wan, Bisan-Seto, Kurushima-kaikyo and Kanmon-kaikyo.
